Summary

The Young School of Nursing, Weston Campus Program is seeking applicants for an adjunct clinical faculty position to work one day per week in a private Catholic, co-educational elementary school in Brockton, Massachusetts. This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise and advanced practice skills. As faculty, you will work a long side the RN at Trinity Catholic Academy as a preceptor to family nurse practitioner (NP) students from Regis College, to provide holistic health care to elementary school students. This would include providing the nurse practitioner students from Regis College with clinical experience in pediatrics with the goals of promoting wellness, preventing health problems, and providing interventions in the management of acute and chronic illness states.

Essential Functions

  • Work in collaboration with the RN at Trinity Catholic Academy.
  • Provide ongoing guidance for the FNP students during their clinical experience.
  • Assist the FNP student in problem-solving conflicts.
  • Participating in ongoing evaluation of the FNP student's learning experience.
Administrative
  • Provide an evaluation each semester that incorporates the number of NP students that were precepted and includes an overview of the clinical experience at Trinity Catholic Academy.
  • Maintain communication with NP Clinical faculty on student progress, concerns, or questions.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Work in collaboration with the RN at Trinity Catholic Academy to identify preventive and urgent care delivery to the children at this school, working closely with their primary care providers.
  • Provide education and mentorship to the FNP students precepting at Trinity Catholic Academy.
  • Assist the NP students with the development of educational materials for the teachers, students, and their families on preventative health topics.
Requirements
  • Active and unencumbered RN & APRN licensure in MA.
  • Preferred 3 years' experience in NP role either in primary care or in a school based Advanced Nurse Practitioner setting.
  • School nurse experience would be an asset, but not required.
  • Active Malpractice Insurance.
  • Ability to uphold the College's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Exposure to a variety of unpleasant physical working conditions, frequent exposure to occupational or contagious disease hazards which require routine precautions.
  • Requires light physical effort on a regular basis, as in frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 20 lbs).
  • Periodic eye or ear strain (less than 50% of the time).
  • Must be able to utilize appropriate instruments and equipment as required for performance of job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk at reasonable intervals or for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to keep up in a fast paced, high volume clinical environment.

Compensation: $75 per hour
