Job Summary Job Title: Electrical BIM Manager Reports to: VP of Operations Location: Des Moines, IA FLSA Status: Full-Time / Exempt Baker Electric has served the electrical needs of Des Moines and Central Iowa since 1946. We perform all types of electrical work including commercial, industrial, residential, voice/data cabling, traffic signalization and underground installations. The Electrical BIM Manager is a critical role within Baker Electric, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., responsible for overseeing all BIM projects and deadlines, developing and maintaining department standards, and managing a team of employees. Essential Duties / Responsibilities Plans, coordinates, and directs facilitation between various stakeholders (PMs, customers, trade partners) to ensure BIM projects are moving in the correct direction, meeting the customers’ expectations, and any potential issues are addressed timely and prior to construction phases. Provides expert and technical advice on targeted projects and project start-up meetings. Mentors and supports a team of BIM drafters/detailers through various stages of projects, assigning work as appropriate to their level of skill and to foster continued growth, as well as general overall support. Ensures the work of the team, including accuracy of modeling matches submittals, conduit type matches specifications, compliance with codes, and overall adherence to project specifications. Develops and maintains BIM standards, directly or indirectly, including modeling, coordination, annotation, prefab, deliverable and template creation, for the team and the company. Enforces consistency and quality of work following the established standards. Stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and design tools, maintains knowledge on opportunities for integrating storage and sharing processes, and looks for opportunities for greater efficiencies and workflows. Escalates critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager / Executive Team with recommendations for resolution. Complies with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established. Performs additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives. Qualifications Preferred Education and Experience Minimum 5 years’ modeling or drafting, or related, experience in the electrical industry Proven leadership experience over a team or department, either in a supervisory or manager capacity High School diploma or GED required; preferred higher education in related field Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines Required Attributes and Competencies Must be able to work directly with customers on all levels to manage customer expectations and drive issues to resolution by ensuring top customer service and a timely response Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications, including ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud and Navisworks and other electrical, technical, or construction programs Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and a commitment to company values Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, suppliers, and customers Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills Must demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and to meet frequent deadlines Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively in the English language. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to commute to field locations and project sites and be able to navigate around the job site locations. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and also travel to field locations as needed. While visiting field locations, the employee may be required to be outdoors, exposed to outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, moisture, cold and heat.
