Job Description

Position Title: Data Architect

Client: Capital One

Address: (Richmond VA)

Schedule : Hybrid )Tuesday-Thursday on Site)

Duration: 6-Month Contract

Pay Range: ~$75/hr.

Project Description: Hiring a hands-on Data Architect to lead a large-scale data migration and integration initiative for a major platform modernization project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution youll define architecture, guide tooling decisions, and work closely with engineering and analyst teams to bring scalable solutions to life.

Responsibilities

• Design architecture strategies for migrating data from legacy systems into modern, cloud-native platforms
• Select appropriate tools and frameworks for migration and integration pipelines (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, AWS)
• Create high-level solution architecture and data mapping documentation
• Collaborate with analysts and data engineers to align design with business requirements
• Work closely with two existing data architects, contributing to architectural reviews and strategic planning
• Support limited data modelling tasks in collaboration with analysts who lead mapping activities
• Ensure alignment of technical execution with broader business goals

Must Have

• Proficiency in SQL
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake
• Strong working knowledge of AWS services (EMR, Glue, Lambda)
• Proven experience in architecting data migration and integration solutions
• Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams

Nice To Have

• Experience with Python
• Exposure to data modeling concepts (dimensional, relational)
• Familiarity with tools like dbt or Airflow is a plus
