Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.

Position Summary

The Lead Test & Measures Analyst plays a critical role in shaping PetSmart’s business and strategy by designing, executing, and reporting on in-store tests that drive high-impact decisions across the organization. This role not only ensures leaders have the right insights to make go/no-go calls on major initiatives, but also supports broader corporate strategy through financial modeling, business case development, and market research. This position is highly tactical and analytical, requiring disciplined methodology, strong problem-solving skills, and clear communication. As an individual contributor, the Lead Analyst partners cross-functionally and leverages influence to ensure insights translate into actionable outcomes that advance both testing rigor and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Test Design & Execution

• Own the design methodology for in-store tests, applying standardized best practices to ensure valid, reliable results.
• Partner with all areas of the organization to define hypotheses, KPIs, and success criteria for test initiatives.
• Leverage APT Test & Learn to structure and manage control vs. test groups, ensuring robust test setups.

Analytics & Reporting

• Analyze test results to evaluate business impact, identify risks, and recommend next steps.
• Deliver monthly updates to leadership, including:
  • Comprehensive result readouts for all active tests
  • A test status update deck summarizing progress and insights
  • Field reporting for awareness of active and upcoming tests
• Ensure clarity, rigor, and transparency in reporting to build trust with business partners.

Business Impact & Influence

• Provide insights on initiatives spanning various categories including pricing, promotions, merchandising resets, and store operations.
• Deliver actionable recommendations that influence whether initiatives move forward to large-scale rollouts.

Collaboration & Partnership

• Build trust with business partners by helping them shape testable ideas and interpret results.
• Educate and influence stakeholders on test-and-learn best practices while balancing speed with rigor.

Strategic Support

• Support corporate strategy initiatives through financial modeling, business case creation and ad-hoc market research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
• 5+ years of analytics, finance, merchandise planning or test-and-learn experience (retail preferred).
• Proficiency with Excel, and PowerPoint; APT Test & Learn a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communicator able to translate analytics into clear business recommendations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Financial modelling capabilities

• Strong partner trust in the accuracy and quality of results.
• Quality of analytics prioritized, with timely delivery supporting business decision-making.
