Position Summary

Under the direction of the Mortgage Loan Originator/Supervisor, the Mortgage Loan Processor will work directly with members and employees to develop, expand, and maintain positive member lending relationships by making it fast and simple to apply and close a mortgage loan with FFCU. The Mortgage Loan Processor is expected to build relationships with all current and new members by providing prompt, efficient, and accurate support to members and co-workers from the application stage through the funding process of their mortgage loan. The Mortgage Loan Processor plays a key role in maintaining the credit union’s position as a lifelong partner in helping our members reach their financial goals.

Primary Duties or Responsibilities

To succeed in this position, you must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the following duties:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the credit union’s loan products and services.
  • Build relationships with Realtors, Investors, and other real estate partners
  • Maintain good relationships with members by keeping them informed
  • Support the Mortgage Loan Originator, members, and other mortgage/business lending employees with the completion of mortgage loan applications; the collection, verification and processing of information contained in mortgage loan applications; and the disbursement of loan proceeds to customers.
  • Complete required calculations for loan applications
  • Monitor sales pipeline, meet sales expectations, get referrals, and generate new business opportunities
  • Drive mortgage applications to meet closing times set by the Mortgage Loan Originator and/or members by working with members and vendors to meet certain deadlines required for a mortgage loan closing.
  • Communicate effectively with Mortgage Loan Originator(s) and other staff as needed to obtain information to complete files.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with CUSO’s and vendors
  • Actively listen to and respond to member and co-worker needs while having a courteous and helpful attitude.
  • Call on current borrowers at prescribed intervals to collect information for quarterly/annual financial reports and compliance reviews.
  • Understand and comply with applicable Federal and State laws, banking regulations and Ferguson Federal Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations
  • Bring to attention to supervisor areas of concerns with communication between CUSO’s and vendors
  • Maintain proper record of servicing of mortgage loans – including the proper tracking of escrows.
  • Prepare reports as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain NMLS/MLO state license

Position Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED required.
  • Six months of work experience in a customer service capacity required; one year of work experience in a consumer or mortgage lending capacity preferred.
  • Knowledge of guidelines for loan programs and various types of loans such as FHA, commercial loans, VA, etc. is an asset, but not required.
  • Must be willing to complete training program to obtain NMLS/ MLO/ state license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Ability to work in fast paced work environments with the ability to adapt to meet our members’ needs
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet pipeline demands
