Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for a licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in a school environment focused on vision, hearing, other health impairments (OHI), and cognitive challenges. This contract position spans the current school year, operating Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to students with visual impairments.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to develop and implement individualized strategies that address students vision and hearing needs.
  • Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to support diverse learning styles and impairment levels.
  • Support students independence and safety within school and community settings.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and communication with parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential.
  • Proven experience working with K-12 students who have vision and hearing deficits.
  • Strong understanding of sensory impairments and adaptive techniques.
  • Ability to develop individualized instruction plans that align with educational goals.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate support services.
