Location : We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef III for the Yakima Convention Center, Yakima, WA.

The Yakima Convention & Event Center is now 89,000 square feet in size, making it the fourth largest convention and event center in Washington state. The Yakima Convention & Event Center is conveniently located. Driving distance is less than 200 miles from Seattle, Portland, and Spokane so we're accessible for attendees from all corners of the Northwest. In addition to location, our outstanding facilities, community hospitality and the exceptional team make Yakima the ideal location for events.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef III to join our culinary team at the Yakima Convention Center . This position is responsible for assisting in the supervision of kitchen operations, preparing high-quality food for events, concessions and leading culinary staff in maintaining consistency and culinary excellence.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations and execution of convention center events.
  • Ensure all food is prepared to specifications, portion control, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain compliance with health, sanitation, and safety standards (HACCP, ServSafe, etc.).
  • Monitor food and labor costs to align with budgetary goals.
  • Oversee kitchen cleaning schedules, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Provide input on menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings.

Qualifications/Skills :

  • 3+ years of professional kitchen experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and production in a banquet kitchen.
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff with professionalism and accountability.
  • Experience in banquets, catering or convention center hospitality is a plus.

Other Requirements :

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
  • Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
