Tufts University Health Services supports the educational mission of Tufts University by providing accessible, high-quality health care to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students across all campuses. We are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming environment that is inclusive, culturally informed, and ensures equitable access to care. Our core values include confidentiality, respect for diversity, promotion of wellness, and continuous professional growth.
Our team-comprising physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, and medical laboratory professionals-works collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary group across Tufts' four campuses to meet students' medical needs. Services include disease prevention, health promotion, and the full spectrum of routine primary care, with a strong emphasis on acute illness, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health. We strive to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care for all student populations, including HIV prevention through pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis, gender-affirming care, and support for individuals who have experienced sexual assault. All clinicians participate in an on-call rotation to provide backup for our after-hours nurse triage line.
What You'll Do This position reports to the Medical Director, University Student Health Services. The Student Health Physician provides comprehensive primary and episodic care to students on the Boston, Medford, and Grafton campuses through both in-person and telehealth visits. Responsibilities include managing common acute conditions and injuries, as well as providing longitudinal care for chronic conditions typical in this population (e.g., asthma, allergies, migraines, gastrointestinal issues, eating disorders, and musculoskeletal concerns). A key focus of the role is inclusive reproductive and sexual health care for all genders. Physicians are expected to conduct routine depression screenings and demonstrate comfort and competence in addressing mental health and sexual health topics. Additionally, the physician supports Tufts' travel medicine services for students participating in university-affiliated travel programs. These services may expand to include faculty and staff, and the physician will play a role in developing and sustaining this initiative. While this role does not include occupational health or urgent care for faculty/staff (with the possible future exception of travel medicine), collaboration with colleagues and providing consultative support to other clinical team members is essential.Key Responsibilities:
