The Director of Operations has a pivotal strategic and analytical role driving operational excellence and identifying growth opportunities for Virgin Hotels collection. This role is crucial for establishing robust data infrastructure, leveraging insights for strategic decisions, and leading initiatives that enhance efficiency, profitability, and guest experience. It demands strong analytical and project management expertise, coupled with a deep understanding of hospitality's operational, financial, and commercial dynamics. This Director links data, strategy, and execution, collaborating with senior leadership to translate insights into results.

Data Strategy & Management

  • Data Strategy & Management : Database Development & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive operational database by integrating and validating data from diverse internal (e.g., PMS, POS) and external sources.
  • Data Integrity & Governance : Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability by implementing and enforcing quality standards and governance procedures.
  • Data Strategy & Management : Identify and recommend tools for data collection, storage, analysis, and visualization to optimize infrastructure.

Reporting & Performance Analysis:

  • Actionable Reporting : Develop, automate, and deliver operational, financial, and commercial reports and dashboards for clear stakeholder insights.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across all operational areas, identifying trends and areas needing attention.
  • Predictive Analytics & Forecasting : Utilize data and models to forecast demand, identify risks, and inform strategic planning.

Opportunity Identification & Strategic Analysis:

  • Structured Analysis : Conduct in-depth analysis of complex data to uncover financial, operational, and commercial opportunities, as well as inefficiencies.
  • Strategic Recommendations : Translate analytical findings into concise, actionable recommendations for profitability, cost reduction, and process optimization.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence : Analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and industry best practices for new opportunities and competitive advantage.

Project Management & Implementation:

  • End-to-End Project Leadership : Lead critical operational, strategic, and cross-functional initiatives from conception through execution and review.
  • Resource Coordination : Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure on-time, in-scope delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management : Proactively communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders, ensuring alignment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence :

  • Strategic Partnership : Collaborate with the VP of Operations to align insights with objectives and support high-level decision-making.
  • Interdepartmental Liaison : Partner with Heads of Commercial and Sales to identify revenue opportunities and optimize commercial performance.
  • Operational Alignment : Work with hotel General Managers and department heads to address challenges, implement best practices, and drive consistent performance.
  • Knowledge Sharing : Foster a data-driven culture by educating teams on effective data utilization.

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expert in database management and querying (e.g., SQL, Python/R for data manipulation).
    • Advanced in data visualization/BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense).
    • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, VBA).
    • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Monday.com)
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving:
    • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and draw actionable conclusions.
    • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
    • Ability to develop and apply analytical models.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Excellent communication skills to present complex data and insights persuasively to diverse audiences, including executives.
    • Strong leadership and influencing skills to drive change and motivate cross-functional teams.
    • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of hotel operations, revenue management, sales, and commercial strategies.
    • Familiarity with hospitality technology systems (PMS, POS, CRS) is a significant advantage.
    • Proactive, results-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Background must-have: v

  • Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree in Business , Operations, Finance, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in operations, business intelligence, or data analytics, preferably in hospitality, is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience building and managing databases and developing complex reports.
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing projects end-to-end.
  • Willingness to travel as deemed necessary (national & international) around 20%
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
