Position Summary

Griffon Aerospace is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Madison, Alabama. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career engineers to develop their skills in UAV electrical systems design, testing, and integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals and a desire to contribute to cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicle technology.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
  • Support circuit board design, component selection, and schematic capture under guidance of senior engineers
  • Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting of prototype and production systems
  • Participate in system integration activities and support hardware-software interface development
  • Conduct analysis and validation testing to ensure designs meet specifications and requirements
  • Document design decisions, test results, and technical findings in accordance with engineering standards
  • Assist with preparation of technical documentation including test plans, specifications, and design reports
  • Support manufacturing engineering efforts including design for manufacturability reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and technicians

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (recent graduates welcome)
  • 0-2 years of professional experience in electrical engineering
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals including circuit analysis, digital and analog electronics
  • Basic understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems, or power electronics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations and able to access ITAR and CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or project experience in aerospace, defense, or UAV/robotics
  • Experience with embedded systems development or firmware integration
  • Familiarity with circuit design tools such as Altium, Eagle, KiCAD, or similar
  • Proficiency with standard electronic test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators
  • Familiarity with power distribution systems and battery management
  • Knowledge of RF systems, antennas, or wireless communications
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other engineering analysis tools
  • Exposure to systems engineering processes or DoD standards
  • Coursework or projects involving flight control systems or avionics

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at a desk or bench for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting and handling electronic equipment and assemblies

Work Environment

  • Full-time, on-site position in Madison, Alabama
  • Work will be performed in engineering laboratory, production floor, and office environments
  • Standard business hours with occasional flexibility required to meet project deadlines
  • Occasional travel may be required for testing or customer support activities

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager and works in close collaboration with the engineering team on development projects.
