Job Description

A K-12 school in Fairfax, VA is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for a contract position during the school year.

Responsibilities:

• Assess students with visual impairments to develop personalized orientation and mobility plans.
• Deliver instruction and support to students to enhance safe and independent travel skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to integrate O&M goals into individual education plans (IEPs).
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular updates.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
• Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments.
• Strong knowledge of O&M instructional strategies and techniques.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
