Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

\n

• Work 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
\n• 4x12 hour shifts available upon request
\n• 13-52 week assignments available upon request
\n• Weekend requirement: Either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
\n• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
\n• Patient ratios typically 1:5 with staffing goal of 1:4
\n• EPIC charting experience required
\n• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
\n• Must have neuro PCU experience
\n• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical level of care units
\n• 32 hours of orientation provided
\n• Clinical skills include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
\n• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
\n• Medication administration including cardiac drips without titration
\n• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
\n• Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown units
\n• Manage IV drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
\n• Care for stroke and neurology patients as well as general medicine overflow
\n• Remote telemetry monitoring with tele sitting for enhanced patient care coverage

This large acute care facility features over 700 licensed beds and holds prestigious designations as a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-recognized hospital. The facility serves as a teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school and offers advanced specialty care including bariatric, trauma, and surgical services. The 12 West unit is a telemetry PCU specializing in stroke and neurology patients, operating as a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center with comprehensive interdisciplinary support services.
